Yang Ning, vice minister of the right and military consultant for Yun-nan, memorialized: "The Mang-shi native-official [Dao] Fang-ge joined with the Mu-bang army and killed Dao Pa-nang and other remnant followers of Si Ji-fa, taking over 500 heads." The Emperor issued orders to the commandants: "Instruct the various man and yi chiefs and leaders to carefully pacify the people. If emergencies are encountered, they are to deploy troops together in response. The bandit followers must be eliminated. They should join together in guarding their areas. Those who realize real achievements are to be praised and rewarded. You are also to investigate Fang-ge's achievements and memorialize so that he can be rewarded and encouraged."
