It was ordered that the generals and troops returning after triumph in Lu-chuan be provided along the road with travelling grain rations. Imperial orders were sent to the Ding-xi Earl and Regional Commander Jiang Gui and to the Minister of War Wang Ji, chief minister in the Court of Judicial Review and concurrently supreme commander of Yun-nan military affairs. The orders read: "You, ministers, have traversed 10,000 li, devoted yourselves to the plans and put forth great efforts. You have put down the man rebels and pacified the border areas. I am greatly pleased. Now, the victorious force is on the road home. I am thus especially sending Wang Zhi, vice minister of the right in the Ministry of Revenue, with sheep and wine to welcome and reward you. Summer is now at its peak. Care well for the troops and return at a relaxed pace. In this way you will be according with my wishes."
