The Censor-in-chief Liu Tao, supreme commander of Guang-dong/Guang-xi and Fu-jian, memorialized details of the achievements in the pacification of the pirate Lin Rong and others. It was ordered that the Defence Circuit Intendent Zhang Shi-chun and others be rewarded with silver in differing quantities and that the bandit leader Lin Rong and so on be dismembered in a public place. Rong was originally a remnant gang member of the pirate Wu Ping. He gathered his forces and made his base in the Western Sea (西海) and he brought great harm through plundering.
