Posthumous honours were conferred upon three loyal officials who had died for the country in Jiao-zhi during the Xuan-de reign (1426-35). He Zhong was appointed as chief minister of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices. Liu Zi-fu was appointed as chief minister of the Court of the Imperial Stud and Yi Xian was appointed as chief minister of the Court of Imperial Entertainments. Apart from He Zhong, who had been given the posthumous title of Zhong-jie, they had not been given titles. It was ordered that posthumous titles be deliberated upon, but that as the achievements had been realized many years previously, their descendants should not be granted appointments. This was ordered in accordance with a request by Zhu Guang-zuo, chief minister in the Court of Imperial Sacrifices.
