The Ministry of Rites memorialized: "Qian Pu, an Academician Reader-in-Waiting in the Han-lin Academy, and Wang Yu, a supervising secretary in the Office of Scrutiny for Rites, were sent as envoys to the country of Annam. Li Hao, the king of the country of Annam, presented Pu with 40 liang of gold and 40 liang of silver and two inlaid belts, one in gold and one in silver. He also presented Yu with 30 liang of gold, 40 liang of silver and two inlaid belts, one in gold and one in silver. Pu and so on firmly declined the presents and refused to accept them. The king then sent the attendant minister Cheng Pan-shun to bring the presents to the capital. Pu and so on still dare not receive them." The Emperor said: "As they have already been brought here, instruct Pu and so on to accept them."
