The Chu Prince Zhu Meng-wan memorialized: "I have received orders to despatch 1,000 infantry troops of the Escort Guard for the expedition to Jiao-zhi. However, the Escort Guard has always been without weapons." It was Imperially ordered that the Hu-guang Regional Military Commission supply the troops with weapons.
