It was ordered that Li Qi, administration commissioner of the left in the Hu-guang Provincial Administration Commission, be retired. Qi had his origins in Yuan-shi County in Zhen-ding Prefecture. From investigating censor, he was promoted to deputy in the Court of Judicial Review. For involvement in an offence, he was dismissed. He was then re-appointed as a censor and went as an envoy to the countries of Annam, Champa and Bengal. Subsequently, he was promoted to vice minister of the left in the Ministry of Rites. He was then sent again as an envoy to Jiao-zhi and, on his return, he was promoted to provincial administration commissioner....At this time, he came to have an audience at the Court. When he arrived at the capital, the Ministry of Personnel advised that he was too old to properly carry out his duties. It was thus ordered that he be retired.
