The chieftain Ban Lian and others, who had been sent by Dao Jiao, the native-official prefect of Meng-gen, offered tribute of elephants and horses. Forty ding of paper money as well as two bolts of fine silks, two bolts of silk gauzes (luo) and one bolt of thin silk gauze (sha) were conferred on Ban Lian and each of the others. The Ministry of Rites was ordered to confer upon Dao Jiao seven bolts of fine silks and seven bolts of silk gauzes (luo), together with four bolts of thin silk gauze (sha).
