Tao-meng Luo-xia and others who had been sent by their rulers, including Na-luo-ta, the native official of Ava-Burma, came to Court and offered tribute of local products in admission of guilt. Previously, the Meng-yang Pacification Superintendent Dao Mu-dan had engaged in feuding and killing with Jia-li. Na-luo-ta had then taken advantage of the troubles to despatch troops to attack Meng-yang, killing Dao Mu-dan and his eldest son Si Luan-fa, carrying off their people, cattle and horses, and then occupying their territory. When these events became known, the Messenger Zhang Hong and others were commanded to proceed there with Imperial orders of instruction castigating him. Na-luo-ta and so on were frightened and subsequently returned the territory and the people and property which they had carried off. Then they sent a person to the Court with their admission of guilt. The Emperor instructed the officials of the Ministry of Rites, saying: "The man and the yi have admitted guilt. They are not to be punished. Give all of them verification tallies and instruct them to come to offer tribute once every three years."
