The Jiao-zhi Provincial Administration Commission advised: "The prefectures and towns have just been pacified and the granaries and stores are not full. Economy should be observed in the provision of the salary grain to the official troops. It is proposed that those of the first, second and third ranks be given a monthly provision of one shi of rice, those of the fourth and fifth rank be given eight dou of rice, those of the sixth and seventh ranks be given seven dou of rice, those of the eighth rank and those who have not been graded be given six dou of rice, and platoon commanders, clerks and assignees be given five dou. When the grain supplies are replenished, the matter should be discussed again." The memorialized was approved.
