The Jiao-zhi Regional Commissioner Zhang Qin died. Qin had his origins in Chao County and he inherited his father's post as guard commander of the Yun-nan Right Guard. In the fourth year of the Yong-le reign (1406/07), he followed the Qian-guo Duke Mu Sheng on the expedition against Annam. Once, while leading an advance force of 1,000 mounted men and spying on the bandits at Qi-luo Sea-port, his force suddenly came across bandits. Qin bravely raised his lance and advanced. They did battle several times after which the bandits fled in defeat. A soldier in his force Li Bao-bao pursued and captured the false Wei-guo Prince Li Cheng and two of his sons. When Annam was pacified, Qin was promoted to commissioner of the Jiao-zhi Regional Military Commission.
