The Qian-guo Duke Mu Sheng, regional commander of Jiao-zhi, memorialized: "I am leading the troops to Jiao-zhi in order to eliminate the remnant spawn. It is requested that the native officials of those prefectures and counties through which the troops will pass, who are due to go to the Court, be allowed to temporarily remain at their posts to handle matters." This was approved. Previously, it was Imperially commanded that local Jiao-zhi people should be rewarded by having official posts conferred upon them and that, when things had returned to normal, they were to come successively to the Court to be rewarded. At this time, in accordance with Sheng's request, this practice was temporarily stopped.
