Li Yu, vice minister of the right in the Nan-jing Ministry of War, died. Yu (zi Wen-hua) had his origins in Luo-yang County, He-nan.... In the eighth year of the Xuan-de reign (1433/34), he was recalled and promoted to vice minister of the right in the Auxiliary Ministry of War. Two years later, he received orders to take on the post of grand defender of Shan-dong. Not long after, he proceeded as envoy to Jiao-zhi with appointment credentials with which to enfeoff the king. On his returned he managed ministry affairs....
