As Lu-chuan had been pacified, officials were sent to make sacrifices and announce the fact to Heaven and Earth, the Imperial ancestors, the gods of soil and grain and the spirits of the mountains and rivers. The announcement read: "Recently, as the rebellious Lu-chuan bandit Si Ren-fa had been presumptuous and rebellious and, without principles, attacked neighbouring territories, brought suffering to all living things and repeatedly opposed the government troops, I respectfully advised you that I had ordered the generals to despatch the army to punish his crimes. Heaven's Way is to help the loyal. The people's hearts were thus harmonized and wherever the troops went victory was achieved. Finally, success was achieved in calming the troubles. The troops have now been withdrawn and I hereby respectfully advise my gratitude."
