The Vice Commissioner-in-chief Li An was sent to prison. Previously, An was appointed as deputy regional commander of the left and was sent to punish the bandits in Lu-chuan. The Regional Commander Jiang Gui ordered An to station his troops in Lu-jiang to protect the grain route. Later the bandits attacked and An, worried that his merit would be compromised, did not advise. The bandits had a camp in the Gao-li-gong Mountains and, violating Gui's orders, An went to attack them, but was unsuccessful and was pursued by the bandits. The Commissioner Zhao Bin and others, a total of over 1,800 persons were either killed or wounded. At this time, the six Offices of Scrutiny and the thirteen Censorate circuits submitted a memorial of impeachment against An. The Emperor ordered the joint ministers to examine the case and they advised that it was appropriate that An be executed. He was thus sent to prison.
