The Jing-yuan Earl Wang Ji memorialized: "We should select from the government troops at the capital platoon commanders, housemen and other warriors who are skilled on horseback and with the bow, so that they can proceed to Yun-nan to eliminate the man bandits." The Emperor approved his request and selected 611 persons, and then ordered the Commissioners-in-chief Ran Bao and Mao Fu-shou to lead them there. It was also ordered that each person be rewarded with three liang of silver, two bolts each of thin silks and cotton cloth and 300 guan of paper money.
