Hong-xi: Year 1, Month 7, Day 19
2 Aug 1425
Wang Xian and others, a total of 82 tribute students, who had been selected from the Confucian schools in the various prefectures, subprefectures and counties in Jiao-zhi, arrived at the capital. The Emperor sent orders to the Auxiliary Minister of Rites Lu Zhen and others as follows: "Jiao-zhi is 10,000 li distant from the capital and these students have left their families to come here. We must educate them and foster them properly. If they do well in their study, we can look forward to them becoming able officials. You and the education officials should be aware of my Will in this matter. They are to be annually given a set of clothing in accordance with the precedent set for the students from Yun-nan."
