Xuan-de: Year 6, Month 8, Day 25
1 Oct 1431
The Teng-chong Independent Battalion in Yun-nan was placed under the jurisdiction of the Yun-nan Regional Military Commission. During the Yong-le reign (1403-24), some of its territory was taken to establish Nan Dian Subprefecture. At the beginning of the Xuan-de reign, further territory was taken to establish Teng-chong Subprefecture. These were both placed under the the jurisdiction of the Yun-nan Provincial Surveillance Commission. Only the Teng-chong Independent Battalion remained under the jurisdiction of the Jin-chi Military and Civilian Command. Whenever there were emergencies, the two subprefectures could go straight to the provincial administration commission, while the battalion had to approach the military commission through Jin-chi, which meant a two-way trip of over 10 days. Many matters were thus hindered and hampered. At this time, it was requested that, as a convenience, the battalion be placed under the jurisdiction of the regional military commission. This was approved.
