“The Massiegit, or Mohammedan Temple of Ternate”, van Huell, 1820-1830
Ver Huell, a Dutch naval officer and artist sailed to Sulawesi in 1816, Maluku in 1817, and returned to the Netherlands in 1819. Dating his images is difficult, as he lost almost everything in a shipwreck and much of his work was produced in the Netherlands on the basis of emories and sketches.
