Ruan Tong-shu, an attendant minister of Chen Wei of Annam, came to offer tribute of local products and gold and silver utensils. Paper money, as appropriate, was conferred upon Tong-shu and his attendants. At this time, Chen Wei had already been killed by his prime minister, Li Yi-yuan. Yi-yuan was afraid that the Court would punish him, so he concealed the incident and, under the guise of Wei's name, sent Tong-shu to offer tribute.
