The chieftain Nai Dao and others who had been sent by Zhao Lan-zhang, a member of the native-official ruling family and due heir to the Laos Military and Civilian Pacification Superintendency in Yun-nan, came and offered tribute and requested the conferral of headwear and a belt as well as a gold warrant and verification tally. It was ordered that, on their return home, they confer upon Zhao Lan-zhang brocaded silks and other goods. Also, variegated silks, clothing and other goods, in accordance with the precedents, were conferred upon Dao Nai and the others. It was also ordered that the gold warrant and verification tally were not to be provided until after the post had been inherited and the grand defender and grand coordinator had conducted an investigation of confirmation.
